Investment and Tax Seminar peers through the looking glass!

Our Investment and Tax Seminar held at South Lodge Hotel yesterday proved to be hugely popular with attendees ranging from manufacturers, property professionals, retail owners and tourism business owners. At the event, guests heard from three speakers who helped to demystify national and global market conditions as well as provide tax planning tips and strategies for the financial year end.

Sanjay Rijhsinghani, Partner at LGT Vestra, began the afternoon’s presentations by giving a fascinating insight into his outlook for 2017, including three areas of anticipated opportunities in infrastructure, financials and technology. He also reassured us that despite all the upheaval that happened in 2016, things aren’t actually as bad as people think they are!

Simon Fox from Carpenter Box Wealth Management also gave an interesting presentation about tax planning in the context of wealth management. In particular, Simon provided some examples into various options open to individuals wishing to invest such as the EIS, SEIS and Venture Capital Trusts as well as how to make the most of out of pensions and ISAs.

Delving deeper, Stuart Noakes, Head of Tax Services at MHA Carpenter Box, first provided us with a ‘basic tax checklist’ such as utilising personal allowances and capital gains annual exemption. He then spoke through the relevant tax relief available when investing in schemes such as the EIS and how businesses owners may be able to qualify for Business Property Relief on Inheritance Tax.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the seminar and to Sanjay, Simon and Stuart for their presentations! If you would like to find out more about any of the topics discussed please get in contact with us on 01903 234094.
